SPRING 2025 schedule: March 2, April 13, May 4

Sunday, March 2, 2025
2:00–4:00 PM

Kennedy Museum of Art’s March Community Open Studio will explore quilting techniques using repurposed textiles, notions, and hand-stitching. These processes are reflected in the works of Colleen Merrill, entitled Little Red and Big Red, featured in the current exhibition Self Adjacent. Beginning in the gallery, participants will be encouraged to look closely at Merrill’s sculptures. In the studio, participants will see demos regarding basic sewing and quilting techniques to create a miniature quilt square. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own textile materials such as old clothing, blankets, thread, etc. but we will also provide some materials.

Instructor: Hannah Moulen- Graduate Student in Printmaking, Assisted by Maia Leclair- Journalism
