Clinical and Community Experiences

Assignments Overview

  • Students will receive their schedules and relevant site information through the EMedley system
  • In order to meet graduation requirements, the CCE coordinator for your campus will schedule all CCEs for both Year 1 and Year 2 medical students:
    • Athens campus: Mindy Nutter, Health Services Specialist, nutterm@ohio.edu
    • Cleveland campus: Renee Bankston, Health Services Specialist,
    • Dublin campus: Starr Pierce, Health Services Specialist, pierces2@ohio.edu
  • CCEs will not be scheduled the morning of an exam (this does not apply to clinical skills, OMM, gross anatomy or medical morphology practical exams)
  • CCEs may be scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday
  • Attendance and evaluations are tracked by the CCE coordinator

Students could be scheduled up to four* (4) CCEs per semester. These assignments may be any combination of clinical and community experiences.

  • Year 1: Mondays and Fridays, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.; Wednesdays, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.; may also be evenings, Saturdays or Sundays
  • Year 2: Mondays and Fridays, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.; may also be evenings, Saturdays or Sundays

Note: Do not schedule anything else during the Monday, Wednesday and Friday CCE times.

Unsatisfactory Evaluations

A referral to the Committee on Student Progress may be made if an unsatisfactory evaluation is returned for unprofessional behavior. A student with a failed evaluation will be required to remediate the CCE.

Incomplete Grade

Students receive ample notification when an Incomplete is given. It is the medical student鈥檚 responsibility to resolve the Incomplete. Without resolution, the Incomplete will turn into a grade of "F" six weeks into the following term.
