Dance鈥擯erformance and Choreography Minor
Program Overview
The dance minor in choreography and performance is designed for individuals majoring in other fields who wish, in the course of their college experience, to gain an understanding of the art of dance. This program may be applied toward the dance major sequence.
Admissions Information
Freshman/First-Year Admission
For admission to the Dance-Performance and Choreography Minor, students must complete the following two steps:
- Fill out an application form.
- Pass the dance major audition OR acquire faculty recommendation upon successful completion of a non-major dance technique course. Note: some non-major courses count toward the minor and may be taken before auditioning for admittance to the majors-level technique courses.

Change of Program Policy
Admission to the dance minor in Performance and Choreography is by audition and application. To apply, students should fill out the online form "College of Fine Arts Application for Update of Academic Program":
External Transfer Admission
No requirements beyond University admission requirements and requirements stated above.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
This minor enhances students' kinesthetic knowledge and performance presence, which can be applied in any career that requires physical skill and confidence. Through courses in dance composition, dance production, and dance history/cultural studies, the Dance Performance and Choreography minor also emphasizes the creative process, knowledge of how to produce a stage concert, and how to understand dance in socio-cultural and historical contexts. Our graduates have applied these skills and concepts in fields as diverse as education, publishing, journalism, anthropology, communication, social work, physical therapy, acting, broadcasting, and many more.
